For many blind and visually impaired people, discovering a new mobility solution is not only about having access to technology. It is about building trust, confidence, and understanding how it can fit into everyday life.
In this episode of Social Innovation Spotlight, we explore the .lumen Glasses for the Blind National Roadshow, an initiative that brought assistive mobility technology directly to communities across Romania.
Instead of waiting for people to come to innovation hubs, the .lumen team travelled closer to them, creating opportunities for people to test the glasses, ask questions, share concerns, and experience the technology first-hand.
The initiative reached 40 cities, delivered 623 live demos, and created direct connections with users, families, associations, and accessibility stakeholders.
Beyond the technology itself, the roadshow showed an important lesson for social innovation: access is not only about creating solutions, but also about removing the barriers that keep people away from them.
