Representatives from the National Competence Centres within the SEED2SCALE consortium gathered in Malmö for the NCC Mutual Learning Event (9–10 September 2025), “Advancing Social Innovation through Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing.”
The event centred the dialogue on two engines of impact:
🔹the academic sector translating evidence into policy and practice
🔹the fast-evolving frontier of AI, where responsible, human-centred tech can amplify social outcomes.
After the first day, learning also leapt off the agenda and into the city through four field visits:
- MFF in Society – Malmö FF uses the power of sport to fight racism, promote integration, and foster opportunities for young people.
- Kraftsamling Herrgården – A cross-sector alliance in the Herrgården district brings NGOs, public and private actors, and academia together to address challenges in employment, housing, and psychosocial wellbeing.
- Social Innovation Center South – A regional platform in Skåne reduces unemployment and social exclusion by leveraging civil society’s innovation capacity and building long-term structures.
- Botildenborg – An award-winning urban farm and community hub combines food, cultivation, and community to foster resilience and inclusion.
Day 2 is underway with forthcoming deepening reflections, exploring system-level innovation case studies, and running peer-support workshops that strengthen the European Community of Practice on Social Innovation.
Events like this matter because they showcase how social innovation is a practical response to today’s “social bombs”, like inequality, exclusion, unemployment, and the rapid technological shifts reshaping society.
Thanks to the Swedish NCC, European Social Fund Agency, and the Mötesplats Social Innovation for hosting this event.
