Designing sustainable business models for NCCSIs requires practical examples and peer exchange

On May 6, during the Cross-Consortia Learning Exchange on Business Model Development for National Competency Centers for Social Innovation (NCCSIs), representatives of NCCSIs from across Europe gathered to explore how they can build sustainable business models beyond project funding.

Through peer learning, speakers Anna Tengqvist from Mötesplats Social Innovation, Kaat Peeters from Sociale InnovatieFabriek, and Jan Peloza, MBA from Impact Hub Ljubljana, shared their experiences from their own NCCs and questions about the future: from revenue diversification and partnership-building to lessons learned on long-term sustainability.

Topics that sparked discussion included:

  • How can the NCCs fund their activities while prioritizing mission-aligned income streams
  • What is the role of CSR programs and transnational cooperation in unlocking funding
  • How to manage cash flow when relying on pre-financed or grant-based models

Thanks to everyone who joined and contributed—more collaboration to come. Looking forward to the next Learning Exchange on stakeholder collaboration! Stay tuned!
